Headaches and Migraines

I have dealt with numerous clients who have suffered from headaches and migraines.  All have benefited to some extent with some finding extensive and longer term relief by self management and simple exercises.

Recent research (done by a South African female doctor) has recognised two important issues.  Firstly, medicine has failed to give headaches sufficient research priority (probably due to the excessive influence of male management).  Secondly, most headaches, whilst often neurological in their cause have a postural element which can be treated and corrected permanently.

Relaxing the shoulders is a simple start to a treatment and a number of massage techniques can contribute to this.  Recognising the causes of the tension is a more important step.  The health of the neck (the cervical spine) is essential.  I can use slow and effective manipulative techniques to release the individual joints by cupping the head in my hands and encouraging the neck to flex.  There are no sudden (high velocity) movements.

Finally, I would want to identify and tell you the likely causes of your headaches so that we can work towards you taking responsibility for ensuring that any manageable factors are dealt with.

I look forward to helping you.
